Anybody near MONROEVILLE, PA 15146?

Hello all. I bought on Epay a tv/console record player/ radio. I just want the amp and maybe the tuner section AM FM out of the console section really. Anyone nearby want the tv part/ rest of the unit? here is a link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...EOIBSA:US:1123

If anyone wants to pick it up and extract the amp and tuner I'll pay for the shipping and you can have the rest of the unit. The old guy selling it wants to get rid of it as a whole. I dunno, maybe he doesn't know how to take the amp out, maybe he is just being stubborn and there is some principle involved here I don't know about. Anyway he is being a pain to me. I'm asking if anyone in the area over that way can help a fellow AKer out? I'd much appreciate it and you can have the rest of the unit.

I guess we all have different perspectives. To me the console seems as modern as yesterday. To someone younger it probably seems like an nostalgic antique. And my having a passing interest in tube audio makes me a little bit more sympathetic. I can't believe I just said that but...

On the other hand, the seller did say local pickup only. Negotiations should be done before bidding. I'm more sympathetic with the seller.

The ebay auction description says it all.

"THIS IS LOCAL PICK UP ONLY IN MONROEVILLE PA 15146
EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS"

Apparently, the buyer did not bother to follow the instructions. Tisk.

Monroeville...That was where they filmed the 1979 George Romero zombie flick, "Dawn of the Dead"...

Yes yes, well aware of what auction listing said. Doesn't stop people from other countries bidding on my items when shipping says US only. They bid and won so I ship. The most likely reason for local pickup on such an item is because the shipping would be higher than the actual item it self. Cost prohibitive. Just looking for someone nearby there to see if they want something for free when I pay for it. Doesn't sound like a bad offer to me. Otherwise. I'll have to let the seller relist. And, wait for another amp to come along. Thanks anyways.

You may be surprised, but most people have no clue how to pull a chassis out of a stereo or television. Also, the seller may have no practical way to dispose of the cabinet and leftovers - many places don't have curbside pickup of large items anymore. Plus, there are environmental laws in some places regarding disposal of picture tubes. Cut the man some slack - he just wants somebody to come take the thing away and be done with it.

Before bidding next time, be sure to ask the seller if they would be willing to pull the parts you need.

Come on guys, it would be a shame to leave that unit whole and not leave the carnage for the old man to deal with!

Somebody local should gut this thing quick! I think the cabinet would make an awesome fishtank.

Obviously a rare CoLoR TV to be listed on this page, and not the B&W forum!
