At least, I think that's what it is...

Yup, that's what it is, and I need one. Got there too late, darn it!
Just have to keep using the one I have from a B/W set. The numbers don't line up, but now I guess it doesn't matter, as I only use channel 4 from the modulator. BTW, the avatar is a screen shot from the 4. Thanks for the link! Kevin

This one's kinda similar, though it doesn't have the little brass tab thingy:

I think the two may have different shaft mounting configurations?

Speaking of knobs, does anyone have a reference that would give part numbers for the many flavors of CTC-11 cabinet? I need a (clear) fine tuning knob for my 11 in a black metal cabinet, and two (clear) knobs for the bottom row of knobs.
Mine was missing its back, so I don't know its model number. Sams lists the model numbers but doesn't describe the cabinet that each belongs to. Phil Nelson |

I've never seen a set that actually had that fine tuning knob, is there even supposed to be anything there?

Look closely at both photos and you will see the numbers are upside down on the one knob and right side up on the other.

Fine tuning knob for both sets is part#106596. I'm not sure of the functions for the clear knobs. This is assuming the black cabinets are the metal ones. I can't imagine they painted any wood cabinets black? |

Thanks for the part number. I didn't realize there were separate Sams for cabinets & whatnot.
In the following photo, the (incorrect) fine tuner is at the very top. The slightly larger knobs are in a row of four at the right bottom of the chassis: horizontal hold, vertical hold, contrast, tone. The two in the middle are original, a honey-ish clear color that matches the bigger knobs farther up. The two on the ends of that row are non-matching replacements: The lower knobs are this size and shape; I want clear ones, of course: Here's the fine tuner I'm currently using in my other CTC-11 (with wood cabinet): Wrong color for that TV, but it fit -- after I shaved the shaft down. That cabinet has a small bezel for the fine tuner knob, held in the cabinet with a spring, the kind of thing that's easily lost. The fine tuner shaft is thinner than the shafts of the four bottom controls, and its body is longer. The fine tuner actually does something. In the next photo, it's the bottom-most shaft. It's spring-loaded and it engages smaller gears on the tuner front when you push it in. Probably too much information, but there you are. Phil Nelson |

Yep, the fine tuner independently tunes each channel when pushed in. That tuning pre-set then stays with that channel when the fine-tuning knob pops back out.
I'll look into the knob situation some more later. But you should actually have the same Sams info if you have the folder for the CTC11 chassis. The cabinet & cabinet parts chart is one the right side of the "parts list and description (continued)" page 9. Last edited by Kevin Kuehn; 07-07-2011 at 10:45 PM. |

Looks like the Contrast, Vert. Hold, Horiz. Hold should be #107605 Note sure why they don't list the tone knob?
Edit- There's a picture of a model 211CB412 on the cover of my Sams Set 550 folder 2. Looks like a different channel selector than the one on your set, so you may have a model 211CB392, or a wrong channel knob. Last edited by Kevin Kuehn; 07-07-2011 at 10:59 PM. |

Phil:
Attached is a photo of the knobs on my CTC-11. The 4 lower control knobs are black. Your knobs and set look closer to those on a CTC-10. See the CTC-10 on Ed Reitan's site: http://novia.net/~ereitan/Gallery/im...ivan%20800.jpg My 11 also has a black metal cabinet and is model 212 F 772 MV. It has a black plastic speaker grille and not cloth like yours. If yours has a CTC-11 chassis maybe it was changed at some point or possibly they were using up CTC-10 cabinets and knobs at the beginning of the CTC-11 production?

I'm at Extravaganza, and I think I saw knobs like the bottom center ones in a box filled with TV knobs. If you show me a picture what you need I might be able to locate it, while looking for what I need.

Boy, the CTC-10 knobs on Ed Reitan's site do look a lot like mine. Apparently my channel selector is also wrong, and my fine tuner needs a little brass bezel like my other CTC-11.
Kevin, I think you're right about 211CB392. The tuner in this set is version KRK98K. Now that I look at the Sams front page, that matches up with CTC11H and model 211CB392. And I don't know how I missed that chart of cabinets & cabinet parts before. It wouldn't surprise me if RCA used the same cabinet & knobs overlapping a model year. I count 43 different models in that Sams listing. It would have been tempting to use up what was on hand. With so many models, the dealers probably couldn't keep them all straight, anyway. Tom, the two knobs I need for the bottom row are clear, like the middle two knobs in the picture of my set I included earlier. They are identical to the brown knob shown in close-up, only clear. It's a pretty sure bet that the cabinets overlapped from the previous year. At least between the CTC-10 and 11 I've seen sets in the same wood cabinets.
