[QUOTE=Dave A;3013936]GE post-Portacolor but skinnier on top of the kitchen fridge. Early to mid-80's 9" or 10". All click VHF/UHF tuners running on a Comcast mini-box. Stripe CRT and all SS. Screams Toshiba. No hope of digging out the model number up there. Remember Fibber McGees' closet.

Oh heavenly days, Fibber!

Sorry I coulden't resist.

I still don't own anything modern. In the living room, I'm either watching a 1984 Curtis Mathis or a 1957 Philco Diamond D with Dish TV box. Simply don't have a need for anything new yet.

Right now, my daily watcher is a Toshiba 14" flat screen CRT set. Bought it at the GW for the Princely sum of $6.50, including tax. It must have been one of their higher end sets, as it has three sets of input jacks. Built in February, 2004. I use a Harmon-Kardon Computer speaker system plugged into the earphone jack, as the internal speakers are tiny, and a low power output stage.

I have two analog CRT sets: Zenith Sentry 2 (1995) and RCA CTC185 (1999). Both sets are now in storage since I bought an Insignia (Sylvania) 19" flat screen HDTV for my living room last month. I still use a 17" Hewlett-Packard CRT monitor, however, on my computer; as long as it works, it stays.

I'm an IT contractor so I spend a lot of time going to lots of people's offices and fixing their computers. I actually had a bit of trouble remembering the last time I used a CRT monitor... I think it was 2 months ago on a server stuck in a small closet. Personally I haven't used a CRT for one of my "main" computers in probably 5 years I was using a Zenith System3 CRT TV 2 years ago.

In my case, the computer monitor was the first to be changed to a flat screen, nearly 10 years ago. Today I mostly use laptops, with LCD screens... very convenient!
The one exception is this 1986 Mac+ that gets regular use for playing vintage games such as "Gunshy". Much fun! This is the first computer that I ever owned that I did not build myself, back in the "stone age".

Here is My Daily watcher

I use my CTC10 every day for news and old shows on METV and RTV. Never watch new stuff on it but there's nothing good on network tv anyway.

Yep! More about the Mac "plus" here:

The box sticking out behind is an external hard drive, a 40 Meg LaCie.

I'm still using my ten year old Admiral color tv with pix tube. 23".
I think this is one of the last ones made in Japan. It's still playing. I have broken button bracket issues, but, works fine with remote.
I use it everyday.
I hate flat screen.

I have a Mitsubishi 19" from the early eighties in my bedroom that's on every single day. Bought it at an auction for a buck a few years ago. It works flawlessly and has a very good picture. Have a JVC 13" in the garage that gets used alot too.

Phil, That CTC-11 is one sweet piece! Your site is extra fun with that excellent commentary.

JD, That HH Scott amp looks similar to my 222.

I am about to call an old friend and see if she still has the RCA CTC15 stereo combo set that I resurrected in '79. I last saw it in 84 after installing an antenna there.

I still use a last-gasp Panasonic CRT-based HDTV monitor (26"), that I recently fitted into an old gutted GE TV cabinet with a lifting front door (purchased at rummage sale)> I no longer have Sat TV, so had to dig out an old HD receiver since the set lacks a internal digital (ATSC) tuner. Picture is as good as purchased new 6 years ago.
