New Radio
I recently purchased a 1952 Zenith TransOceanic. The case is in excellent condition and the electronics are functional. I plan on replacing the valves with semi-conductor equivalents then having the unit checked, old parts replaced and tuned up for maximum performance. I believe this unit can provide performance that would rival the D7000 I own. As I progress I'll update my post.

I'm only aware of solid state 1L6 and ballast options for tube Transoceanics...the IF and audio tubes are still common and cheap so I'd leave those tube....heck if the ballast and 1L6 are good I'd leave them be.

The series A chassis has no ballast.
