1950 Dumont RA-108 - Will Need Help!
Ok folks... I took the plunge on this one. A good bit older than my other tubes and since I am still novice at restoring - I will definitely need yalls assistance.
I bought it - and will pick up this week. This is what the guy had in the description... I don't totally understand what he means. Can anyone explain it a bit more? "Has all of its tubes, including the picture tube. The last time I had it working was 5 years ago. The interior speaker will either need reconed or replaced. It has a rear input for a ceramic cartridge turntable. There is no pressboard rear panel The first time you turn it on, bring it up slowly with a Variac, This will prevent any possible damage and allow to capacitors to reform (if they are going to do it) If you know anything about old electronics, then you know what I am saying is true." Keeping fingers crossed I don't ruin this one. Will need to figure out best way to restore wood as well.

The Sencore PR-57 isolation transformer doubles as a variac if you want to go that route. I'm sure there are others but I'm not familiar with them.
