TV Help
Need some expertise on TVs,My mother has a 27 inch Sanyo, nice tv.
Sometimes ,especially when it is first turned on it gives a high pitched hum.The dealer has been,to be kind, useless. A competitor said that "a something or other"was vibrating within the set.It is annoying at first but once the set heats up it goes away.Any Thoughts? Best, opt80 |

Degaussing
The noise is probably the Degaussing coil humming.
The coil is used to demagnetize the CRT and only kicks in for a couple seconds when the set is cold. The metal shield around the CRT may be vibrating from the 60 cycle magnetic field. Basically this is normal operation. Oh wait, you said a high pitched noise... Your Flyback transformer or Yoke could be singing, this will be a very high frequency noise, also normal to a certain extent however loose windings on either of those components can sometimes be tightend up to reduce the noise.
