history parrelled

Just as the color television industry went from the round crt to the rectangular crt, so now the HDTV era starts with the crt and will end up with a variety of flat panel displays.

The only real difference is that back then all of the tv manufacturers were American based. Now there aren't anymore.

lack of training

Back when I had my shop, we were factory authorized for all the major brands, what that ment to the consumer, was we got up-to-date training of the lastest models coming out. In today's world the training of new products is woefully inadequate. Most tv shops don't have a clue how to fix any of this new technology.
