Electrolytic Can Clamps
Has anyone ever broke the tabs off a can that you wanted to restuff and use this type of method in the link to remount?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4pcs-40mm-1-...item2323e35911 I may try and do this with a 60s tv set I'm working on.. Just curious if anyone had results that were satisfactory..

Never did. Just keep in mind there are 2 major sizes (diameters)
for US made cans & Jap cans are different to. All you need is one good tab to remount. Just be sure its WELL soldered & grounded. If you clamp mount run a separate ground to be sure with heavy wire. If the cap is on a PCB they may use the can to join several ground traces, just use jumpers....... 73 Zeno |

Restuffing is primarily done to preserve above chassis appearance, and secondarily to keep the under chassis from becoming cluttered. At this point I'd probably advise you to just ditch the original can...Many manufactuers had production changes that left chassis with empty can and tube socket holes in the chassis....

I think I'm going to do the clamp method.. It's too crowded on the bottom to mount a terminal.. Won't fit.. And the way I have the terminal mounted on the top side, it looks terrible and out of place... The only difference in look wise will be a clamp added and the cans slightly elevated.. I can deal with that..
Zeno.. The cans measure in at 1 and a half inch... according to the auction that one fits between 1-3/5.. All I would need to do is drill two holes to mount and it looks like it already has the ground stubs too which I could use solder, but I wouldn't even need to do that, just using the screw holes of the clamp will even ground it... I made it to were the caps in the cans are grounded internally...
