You're 13 and getting into this? Be careful, it's addicting and you'll want to "add" to your collection! Nothing wrong with that either. You are another set of eyes keeping a lookout for something that could turn to trash and these old sets represent a different day and time in our history that will never be repeated. You can't keep everything though and there's always the thrill of picking up, parts, re-selling and getting to know other collectors too.
I remember fondly the facinations of tube electronics at an early age, as a lot of here do. You're not alone in your interests...welcome! |

Glad you're here! I've been messing with TVs & radios since I was your age or younger....and that was a LONG time ago! Have fun!

Welcome to the TV funhouse. I got started at your age, resuscitating TV's (mostly Philco Motorola GE and RCA) found in barns, farm dumps at field borders. Burned my fingers all the time.
Once you have reputation for tinkering, stuff will find you. Just be safe with things that plug-in. Use Ground Fault outlets, isolating transformers and ramp up the voltage nice and slow. The experts here know everything. |

Was in Dallas-Denton for a job in 83-84. Lots of Zenith TVs it seemed and a Curty Mathes or two. I wished I was in Austin, a much better place IMHO. Good luck in thrift shops, ebay (try "antiques" instead of electronics)
