It's a little early for holiday music, but it's been 20 years or more since I've been into this box of albums from my childhood and it's kind of nice to re-discover some of the music from when I was a kid.
You just stated: It's a little early for holliday music!
Three stations started playing it already.
One started November 1st. Two others started the day before Thanksgiving.

Is anyone here using a wind-up Victor Victrola?
I have a weakspot for those..in storage is my 1917 standup model from my grandparents, along with a nice collection of all acoustically-recorded 78s. Last time I visited the machine, I regreased the spring and oiled the cabinet. I recall playing BEER BARREL POLKA by the Glahe Musette orchestra 1930s on it and it sounded surprisingly 'alive'.

I have that record too. Don't hesitate to flip it, 'Hot Pretzels' is also a great tune!

They were recording electrically, by then. The fidelity was amazing, even with the limitations, at the time.

Yes, one day I shall pull the 78 collection and the Victrola out and put it to good use. the collection takes up a LOT of space..there are many. Coupled with the fact that I have a large LP collection, I have chosen to set aside the 78s hobby for now.

Another dismal quarter report from Avon..... 3 women reporting on how they shove paper, money, and other crap around the office for 4 months at a time resulting in a additional 16% decline in active representatives, and a 21% current decline in North America revenue, And yet, Sheri says "we are heading in the right direction". As best as I can remember this is the 4th quarter with the exact same results. The analysts seem to be coming to the conclusion I have, Management has no clue. I listen to them almost daily as it takes a while to figure out the code..... For example my all time favorite is "flow of excess inventory" It took a while hearing this over and over to finally conclude, this must be "selling stuff we can't move at a loss...." My conclusion, the more they make, the less they know.....

We got a new cat this fall, a stray from outside, and whenever the heater kicks on, he runs around looking for the source of the noise.... Often he sits outside the heater room all spooled up like he's gunna catch it if it escapes out that door.....

He does not know it's much bigger than he is......
