Thank you for having me
Perhaps this should be my 2nd post, but I was not sure where to start.
Thank you in advance for what I am sure will be several posts. I have put this off for many years but now have time and some resources to try and restore an old Zenith televison. I can recall watching this box a child but it has not produced a picture in more than 20+, maybe 30 years. Today I am a Network Engineer I but started my career with a soldering iron, volt/ohm meter and O-scope. My current test equipment consists of... Two scopes a student/beginer 10meg "Leader VBO 514A" (But it's bullet proof) Hitachi 100meg V-1060 One 100-times high volts probe. Service Monitor IFR FM/AM 500A A couple of Fluke meters. Senocre Z-meter (I would have to dig this out of storage) SIMPSON 260--series 8 (I am kind of proud of this one...) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The BOX that I am tryin to restore is an old Zenith. It is a "Super K Chassis" The Model # is... M1800RUZ1 I have what I believe is an accurate schematic. I think it is a photofacts from SAM's (It is very old and very worn) Before I fix it, or break it further, I thought I that I might ask the community for any input. I know/think that two tubes are not as they should be. Thank again, sjphares |

Welcome! You have some good equipment (much of it better than one I'm used to working with!) and the Photofact can be invaluable. Some questions: what were the symptoms when the set was last used? What tubes do you suspect? We can walk you through this. If you need tubes or any other parts, just ask on here, one of us may have what you need. (I likely have all the tubes for that model, new old stock) Was the picture tube in good shape? If it were mine, I'd probably bring the voltage up slowly with a variac and see what it does. The worst that can happen is that a filter cap can be bad, and you would need to watch for that. They need to be changed regardless. Whether you do that before or after diagnosing other problems is subject to debate.
Best of luck- we will get you through this!
