RCA SGT-200 CED player is moving the carriage too fast
The player skips through the movie as if the player is stuck in FF but the button is fine and it goes faster when you use it. Anyone familiar with this problem? I hope it's not a bad IC or something requiring a lot of detective work. I tried the CED Magic forum but haven't been able to get in.

As I understand it CED players read a frame count off the disc and will in the absence of it skip forward till they find signal with it.
My hunch is the portion of the circuit that decodes and interprets it past wherever it is split from the A/V signal have suffered some failure. (Maybe caps?) A schematic would be necessary to do targeted troubleshooting. I've never had this specific issue before so that's about as much insight as I can offer given the information here.

Any chance the stylus is bent or on the aft side making it *think* it needs to kick it forward? As I recall they use a difference in frequency to track the stylus and compensate to keep it centered between the two capacitance strips. Going on 35+ years of memory here of the SGT100 before my cup of coffee.
