Very nice clean cabinet. Too bad the chassis is missing, it was a Deluxe chassis.

Very nice, I am glad it was saved and will become a complete TV again.

I don't think there was a 'cheap' version of the CTC-4 like there was with the othe later models, they were all Deluxe.

I would certainly agree (for what its worth!) that it is great that this cabinet did not get smashed up in a dump. As we all grow older, time marches on and slowly these treasures (to us) will disappear. I feel lucky to have gotten a CTC-9C for $50 and it at least now has a raster. Don't have time to work on it right now because I am moving from Maryland to Florida this fall.

Bravo!

right, just one chassis, but a number of circuit updates were suggested and published in later service data. Unique RCA chassis design.

Bob,

Great that you were able to secure that cabinet. And, while that CTC-4 "Cheltenham" model is a rare find, you have the extremely rare birch finish cabinet to boot. The majority were in mahogany.

It almost looks like there are remnants of a Blonde finish in the door hinge area. Or maybe that’s just the way the light is reflecting off it. In any event I love the current finish of that cabinet.

That is a beautiful cabinet, I wonder if it was stripped for a Fishtank or Liquor Cabinet project?

A TV serviceperson wouldn't have removed the mask and glass just to work on it.

Bob even speculated that perhaps the shop that had it removed the guts so they could sell just the bare cabinet...

This IS common practice to scrap innards to make a console cabinet for flat screen. Does anyone have the burl type door cabinet of the ctc4, any survivors??

Here is my mahogany Cheltenham. Like many of RCA's cabinets, the book-matched doors are a faux finish. Fortunately, mine is in good condition. The birch version Bob has is extremely handsome. Hard to decide which version I like better, but I am lucky to have the one I do.
