Somebody said that there's a radio in this picture...
I am having trouble finding it.. seriously, I think this picture may be from when? 1947?

Yeah, methinks them gals are late prewar or early postwar. They didn't, as yet, have Bikinis as we understand them. IIRC, gals who actually were brave enuf to try one on, faced a LOT of harassment, ESPECIALLY from blue noses who were trying to save us from ourselves.

Hmm...Ooh yeah, there is the radio.
IIRC Philco offered similar models with different model numbers (and some electronic variations) pre and post WWII. I've got one nearly identical at home with Falk (a local company) stamped on the sides...Philco that is. They call that model the roll top.

I'm confused, I see a photo of a blond... must be a Kodachrome, the colour has survived so well!

I love the longer hairstyles woman had in the '40's. Very glamorous. Then they went very short and cropped by the start of the '50's.
That Philco is one of the most common radios ever made. A while back I was almost tempted to get a nearly mint one for under $50. I just couldn't do it even at that price! |
