Found a JVC Nivico TRE-5 8 Transistor Radio/Turntable...?

Hi. I just found this a couple weeks ago, and thought you guys might know what it is, or have some info about it. It's as the title states. Works perfect. It has only a little wear, but looks great. It still has the 45 adapter, and the original screw in antenna. Anyone ever seen or heard of this...? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a JVC brand unit. JVC stands for Japanese Victor Co as in the Japanese arm of the American Victor Talking Machine Company that made windup phonographs around the turn of the last century before being bought out by RCA. JVC is still in bussiness, but it's early imports to the USA from the 60's such as your set are fairly hard to find.

I had never seen another one, and was really amazed at the condition, being such a delicate piece. I'm curious. Was it imported by someone from there to here, or meant to be sold here?

NiViCo means Nippon Victor Company

Here in Canada I have seen JVC NiViCo radios. Perhaps it was just not a model which sold much? It's pretty cool, nice fine!

They were imported by companies to be sold here.

No FM, many early JVC/Nivico units were private labeled in the US. Woolworths sold quite a few JVC/Nivico units as Audition brand.
