I would get a good NOS 3a3 anyway.

It sounds like the HV regulation may not be working properly. I would check the shunt tube cathode just to be sure. It also could be that you are just over driving the CRT trying to make it too bright. I am not going to try and explain checking the shunt, you can either read the sams or have someone else explain it.

i have been here befor with looking in the sams for how to do it but for some reason its not in it. so ill look online or ill call a friend of mine and ill have to check it. as far as the RGB drives they are low so i dont know whats going on with it.

kine bias low too? did you go thru the correct grey scale setup?

yes kine bias all the way counter and grey scale is fine.
