Talking Picture bounces when I crank the system

Gonna have to get my hands on a bunch of 500uF 250v filter caps for my little GE 13".... I am noticing that if it's playing on mute when I'm listening to tunes, the raster pulls in a bit with every drum hit.... My amp pulls 700W at maximum output and they are sharing the same 20A circuit.

This isn't a 'help me' post, rather it is just an observation on a kinda funny phenomenon. Makes my friends laugh. I know it's not the mains line itself since my Furman conditioner maintains 121VAC when this is happening.

I suspect you are right about the circuit load.

At my old place when I would crank up the tunes it my sony rear projection TVs picture would bounce. in this case I think it was the mask vibrating. On a good drum beat the lights would dim a little.

I love it when the lights or tv dims with loud music, that's how you know you have a real stereo

Damn right, Mark ! It's a good sign IMO. With my SX-1050 I used to regularly dim the lights when driving 4 ohm loads.

One of my friends who saw this was like, boy your electric bills must be SAD, man! True, but for other reasons I bet, like the high cost of electrons here.

I figured out a way to stop that! I routinely use two Infinity SWAMP's (around 500 watts each) on Magneplaner 1B's. I have to use a 3500 watt sine wave on line battery back-up. When the line drops too much it simply stays on it's batteries. I could make my TV pull in from the sides if I got too enthusiastic (too loud)! It's also good for power outages. Hurricane Gustav knocked power out for a week and the back-up would run the lights and TV for about six hours. The generator charges it after that. Gives some peace and quiet between charges.
The lights still flicker with the bass notes... Kinda fun!

Not quite the same, but I worked at the late, great WDGY in Minneapolis back in the early 80s. 50kW AM station that cut to 25kW at night with a VERY tight directional pattern. There was a baseball field about 1/4 mile from the transmitter site...right smack in the middle of the main directional lobe. Even at 25kW, the ERP in the main lobe was over 500kW. The filaments in the ballpark lights would dance to the music during night games due to the intense RF field. You could walk around inside the station with a fluorescent tube in your hand and it would be lit. Fun!!
