Picked up the RCA set with the hide-away doors today. I found the chassis to be marked KCS-28. Sams' folder 74-8. Some repairs were done to it a long time ago. Posted some pictures below.

More pictures. The 5U4 socket had been replaced, too.

I have one too. It must have been a low hours set - the horz output tube and damper looked original (The plate cap on the 6BG6 had a ceramic wafer on it. Never saw that before).

Well, under the chassis, looks like RCA forgot a few solder connections (whoops!).

Thing works now, though it has a few issues, notably that I need new lytics for it.

Weird cabinet. Tabletop...with doors. They tried everything back then, I guess...

Anyone know if the little rubber bumpers for supporting the CRT are made by anyone? I'm guessing there were little bumpers on the metal tabs. Mine are gone. And the belt for the fine tuning is shot...

There are little rubber pads for cushioning. The fine tuning belt on this set is also shot.

The cabinet will require some refinishing but it looks like it would turn out very clean.

How is your CRT? I have three table models with this chassis, which I have not dug into. I wish they had front speakers tho'

I hear they're a real cap fest.

I haven't checked the CRT's on any of the last 4 or 5 sets I've brought home, yet. I probably won't get to this set for another year or two.

I have an 8TR 270? table model. I replaced FT belt with a heavy duty rubber belt on the fine tuning.
Does anyone have a spare restorable set with maybe not too good a cabinet? Mine works, but, has been damaged in transformer. Rust ridden chassis.
With a lot of work I had it playing, then, radio quit, and, other problems. HV fly back came out of one not damaged, but, not same shassis. Last time I had it on HV started arcing.
Sorry for takin up space on your set. You have a very nice set, there.

I finally finished the recap on this set. The 10BP4 crt still worked. I had to make substitutions to replace the candohm resistor on the rear of the set. The original was arcing to ground.
