Smile 1981 Electrohome C55-131 Color TV (pics)

Here is my vintage 1981 Electrohome Model C55-131 Color TV.
Got it for $5 bucks at an estate sale. Work perfect.
It's manufactured by Samsung.

Sammy built sets back then were really overshadowed by the mighty Sony Trini's and some Zeniths !

These sets were available under the ''Princess'' Brand in Australia fitted with 13 Channel Band 1 2 & 3 Rotary tuners and Variable Band 4 and 5 UHF tuners, these sometimes stopped when the screening struts cracked and the clutch at the front would slip,a G clamp and a beefy soldering iron are needed, also the little trannys in the Chroma Section suffer from greenspot, carefully unsolder them draw out the coil, break is always at the end, repair with fine wire,my 9yr old daughter is very good at this, just did the IF alignment of an old FT1 Yaesu where the phantom twiddler had been, bought for 20 bucks in a junk shop.

Very nice TV set. I'll bet it has a pretty good picture on it!

I used to see plenty of those come across my bench, but most were Samsung branded. The local K-Mart store sold tons of them, and we done their warranty work. Despite what some thought of them "back in the day", those were actually a well built TV set that performed well and gave little trouble.

I have a few mixed 13" sets. Each one has a great picture and perfect color.

The "family" includes two RCA XL100, Emerson and Sharp. I bought one of the RCAs brand new back in 1989 for my parents. My dad only got to enjoy it for about five weeks before he got sick and went to the hospital (he passed away a few months later). Mom watched it daily till 2000 and I got her a larger set at that time.

All of them are from the 80s and still perform as new.

Seems like I remember seeing those in "Level 2" type discount stores in the early Eighties. We had a chain here, TG & Y, that was several rungs below Wally World & K-Mart. The store STUNK from the El-Cheapo clothes, crappy toys, & just general bottom-feeder merchandise they typically sold. It was a strong SOUR, RANCID sort of smell. The one here in Bugtussle finally closed its doors around 2000.
