need help identifing this radio

need help identifing this radio
no name or numbers,, doesn't have a back, nothing on the bottom, didn't see any numbers on chassis

You know, the lack of writing on this radio and the unusual dial makes me wonder if this was a early radio set for the blind.

Dial mech reminds me of Grunow Teledial sets.

I was thinking the same thing, although I couldn't think of the manufacturer's name at the time. The preset tuning adjustments rang a bell in my head, though; I knew I had seen this type of radio before. There was only one manufacturer (that I am aware of, anyway) that used this kind of preset tuning setup, but for some reason Wards Airline came to mind. Could this radio have been built for Montgomery Wards by Grunow, and sold under the M-W name? I think it must have been.

Any tubes in the unit? With a tube complement list, you could use the search function over at radiomuseum.de and see what it comes up with....

Check out PDF page 16 of this section of the Mallory-Yaxley Technical Manual. The Trav-ler automatic tuning system looks just like what you have.
