Given how rare decent GEs from the 50s or 60s are, I’d look past the bumpski, get the CRT, and gopher it!

I'm still arranging to get it, it IS quite far from me, then once I do get my paws on it, I'll try to bring it up with the 8YP4.

Then comes the real pain of tracking down a viable replacement CRT.

That is one of the 1957-58 models with a vertically oriented chassis U1 or U2. The CRT is a 90-degree 21CBP4 or similar, very easy to find.

This was one of GE's first models using the "new" printed circuit boards. I had a table model with just power tuning and it was fun to service into a great performer, far better than GE's "portable" models.

I have a 1956 "Ultra Vision" with controls (and chassis) above the picture tube the last GE using dip-soldering. Its 21AUP4 was dead but the ETF sold me a NOS Raytheon replacement at reasonable cost. It makes a raster even before a re-cap, GE used fewer but better parts , Philco on the other hand.....

This is absolutely worth getting for the sheer fun of it or at least saving from a terrible fate.

not found anything around here yet, but it is rather soon.

I did e-mail ETF with a heads up that a CRT will be needed at some time at a future date, no reply yet, but its only been 2 days.
