Looking for info on a 70s Sony
I found a Sony TV 115 black and white at a thrift store brand new, manufactured in December 1975. Everything on the tv works and it still has the tags hanging off of it from the 70s. I have no idea what I have or it's value and trust me it's not for a lack of trying. Searching the internet seems fruitless and I've made so many phone calls that end with, "I haven't seen one of those in 30 years." I'm frustrated and just looking for some expertise, that's when I found this forum and joined. Anyway, thanks in advance for any insight you might or might not give.

Hi, It is a interesting tv set but not so much today. 30 years ago i found a Panasonic tr-005 orbitel set for 5 bucks at a junk store, i bought it and thought it was cool but i couldn't sell it for $20 if i wanted to. fast forward 30 years, it is worth $200 or more on epay. The same thing with your sony. about 30 years from now it will be worth silly money. Are you willing to drag it around with you for the next 30 years to get some serious coin for it? Some people are gifted with taste that is ahead of their time, i'm afraid that you are one of them.

It's small enough to ship if you sell it on eBay but don't expect it to bring in much, maybe $200 if you get someone really interested.

Nice looking set. Wow original hang tags too. Set is completely solid state. You should post a picture of it turned on with some type of video source connected to it. I've bought several sets on eBay, but I always worry about how well they get shipped. B/W sets in general aren't worth a lot unless they are very collectible desired models or very old i.e. late 40's sets with channel 1.

I notice in your label that it was made in Taiwan not Japan. That probably dates it to around mid to late '80's tv.

is probably a 1974 model that ran for several years. Worked on a lot of them. Mostly dirty tuners, open horz yoke coupling caps, knobs & antennas. All & all a good set. If you display it you may want to pack the sunscreen away in a safe place to keep it mint. A very nice find but not a lot of value IMHO. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

I appreciate all of the information, I never noticed it saying made in Taiwan. There is a production sticker on the tv too, I'll post a photo. I have more information now than I've had all along, so really, I appreciate all the info.
