Telefunken tw 562 mystery wire

i picked up a telefunken tw 562 a couple days ago. i rescued it from becoming part of the land fill. it is in great condition, but someone has butchered the wires years ago. i plugged it in, and got nothing. the positive and negative wires are wired to the plug, but theres a grey wire thats cut and i dont know if thats the issue. heres a picture, maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

The picture isn't clear. The circuit is very simple, the power goes to the motor in series with the switch. Trace it and you will see what's wrong.
