The power supply and sweep sections should be the least of your issues. These are rugged sets and I cant wait to see how yours turns out.

Mine must have a replacement FBT, it looks silicone-encapsulated. It worked for reliable garage-shop watching in the 90s, color sync was touchy and tuner would flake into hash-lines some times, especially on UHF, where all but one of the local channels was. I just left it on the UHF channel I watched the most.

Dave - this sounds like the consumer electronics version of AMC, and even more so than an Emerson or Dumont of this vintage

Finally got the decataracted tube back in place, along with the chassis. Took the set entirely apart and cleaned everything with hot soapy water.

That cleaned up really well. And I really like the little nuclear reactor.

I found that tv in an old abandoned tv/radio repair shop along with 6 other sets, it had been sitting untouched since 1978 or 77. I hope to see it working on day.

He's getting close to a power up. The circuits in that set are ridiculously simple. I cant wait to see the next progress post!

All I'm missing is a durn 40KD6! I have a 30KD6 I might use for a quick test though. Might also set my isotap to about 105 to reduce the risk of burning something up, especially that tube.

Westy also made some 60's Penncrest sets - my best friend's family had one. Gemini HV cage, and theirs had 5GH8 tubes in series fashion....

Watchin' from afar....

30KD6 heater current is higher than 40KD6. In series string, the 30' won't get anywhere near hot enough. (Series strings are constant-current, parallel circuits are constant-voltage.)
