Collins ARC-174

Picked up parts from an ARC-174 on a trade, Beautiful gear by Rockwell Collins.
The problem is I only have the receiver/exciter (671U-4AN) in its tray and the amplifier-antenna coupler (548S-5A) without its tray. To get this 100W, 2 to 30Mhz, SSB/AM/CW rig to work I need a control head and associated cables. I have searched the net for a control head, either a 514A-4 or 514A-7 modulo 2, and a set of cables, I will make the cables if I have to, but the control head is in a class by it's self and would take more time to duplicate than I have.
Any Ideas on where to find ????

That is the only one I have seen. would sure like to find a -7 as it has memory to store presets and a larger display.

Success !! Got the control head and 3 connectors, with some wire, solder and lots of sweat I got the receive section working. Next comes the transmit section, and a chassis to mount the head and speaker with volume control and microphone jack.

Make sure the cooling fan(s), if any, are working - this thing was for airborne use, and may need 115V, 400Hz. Be sure of it's power needs before using it - 60Hz will not power up 400Hz equipment.

Also, watch that duty cycle - 1:7 at sea level - 1 min transmit, 7 minutes down time....

Of course, if you can get it to 60,000 ft, you are looking at a 1:2 duty cycle....

No cooling fan, is a sealed case rated to 35,000 feet with derating curves given in the manual. The only power requirement is 28V at 20A max. that I will supply with an Acopain linear supply, was advised to not use a switcher due to noise problems.
All I have to go is make up a panel for the control head, speaker, volume control, microphone, and wire the PTT and microphone lines to the exciter. Am now debating what to make the panel from, an aluminum box or plywood. This should be small enough to fit between my R390 and linear, think I will hunt my wood pile for a piece of walnut veneer plywood.
