Hey Charlie!
Welcome back to cellular range. That certainly is a unique looking set. Never seen one quite like it. I wonder if the picture has better low frequency response sitting in the corner like that? You back for a while? Gonna check out that attic some more? Rob |

Rob,
I am still on the ship. We are in Baltimore right now, and leave tonight to head for Perth Amboy, NJ. I expect to go home in about 7-10 days. Maybe sooner if I get lucky. There is an Anderson RCA set in the attic I hope to get out this time home. I have the chassis and knobs in my garage right now... just need to go back for cabinet and crt. The cabinet is ok except for the top. Will need to put a piece of veneer on it. I think the CRT has a broken pin on it... not sure if it is fixable or not. An uncle sent me a CRT tester while i've been at sea, so if it checks out ok I will see if that pin can be repaired somehow. It may turn out that this will be set aside for a parts set. Won't really know till I get it all home. In either case, I think it is worth hauling home. Is anyone here in the Chicago area? One of the guys on board here with me was telling me of a restaurant called "Pequod" in Morton Grove just outside of Chicago. In the back room of this restaurant, the owner has a collection of vintage TV's and radios. Says there are at least a dozen or more old tv sets that were really nice lookng. Said the food was good also. As far as this Philco on Ebay, it sure is a looker. Someone took good care of it. Looks like a defect in the horizontal circuit. I had a set that gave a picture like that. Come to find out the oscillator slug was WAY out of adjustment.

It looks like Philco resurrected the design of their triangular shaped 1930 Concert Grand radio phono for this set.
