Sony KV-1217 button replacements?

I picked up a well-loved Sony KV-1217 from the Goodwill bins recently. The set powers up, but was stuck on channel 12. No matter what other channel I tried to switch it to, it always went back to 12. I tried the channel tuner and even hooked up a VCR while the channels were being found and no luck. I may not have been doing this correctly, but I went ahead and pulled out the PCB that held the buttons on and started inspecting the buttons.

Once I removed the channel 12 button, I noticed the rubber gasket's center part had come detached. I popped open another button and it was in similar condition. I was thinking of just replacing all these buttons with new ones, but I don't know what I am looking for or if they are still being produced.

There are two different numbers on them. Some are 04ZA and some are 23ZA. I tried looking up these part numbers, but didn't come up with anything. They are also marked with TOKO and Japan.

Are these available somewhere or is there a suitable replacement?

I've seen those in various home audio receivers and VCRs over the years. They're still available and I'd start with DigiKey. The part number may not correlate to anything so you will have to do this by eye.
Have you removed the ch 12 button to see if the others work?

Those went DISCO from Sony in the 80's. Pull old one & try it. Usually
more than one is leaky. When you get it to stop you should be able to tune ch 3 in any slot.

The others will momentarily tune and then jump back to 12. I was able to hold down 3 and see the VCR video come though. Think I will probably reassemble it as it and hope for the best.

What is the procedure for using the digital tuning?

You are so right. That door become detached so I had set it aside and didn’t notice the instructions printed on the inside. Thanks for the heads up.

Service notes.
When you junk something save the TACT switches. There are hundreds of styles & often get noisy. With a good assortment you can usually mouse something.

A few other sets that use slide rule preset varactor tuners.
Toshiba has switching diodes on each slot. Change them all, they get
leaky.
Sanyo / Sears. More interesting ! It uses sensors, not switches. You
need to remove the panel & clean both the cabinet & sensors. First one
I saw had food & mung on it, a great clue !
