Zenith G503 Portable Radio Parts WTB

Hello, I acquired this neat little Zenith from 1949 recently. I thought that it was neat looking with the flip up door and Transoceanic like case. But the main reason I got it was the Transoceanic like tube compliment. I am trying to get one going and I thought it would be a good way of avoiding purchasing my (now) second round of tubes due to the ease of ruination of 1V directly heated tubes. AND one of them is uber rare (1L6 I think), so they all came in this other AM only set.

Of course the high dollar tube has weak emissions, but all but one of the others were good, so that paid for the extra radio which is really a nice piece. Anyway, I need the plastic dial cover for my radio if anyone has spare parts. Mine is all there, but has 2 cracks in it.

I will buy this piece outright or if you need tubes I have acquired quite a number of N.O.S. RCA boxed tubes that I would trade. I think that many are 50s-60s TV tubes. Drop me a line if we can work something out.

Thanks,

Tubejunke

Wow, I could have fixed you up, but I sold mine back in July...Too many projects, a possible move, and the back hinges breaking in a fall were all the reason I needed to sell it.

Shoot! Missed that one. Are they fairly desirable radios or best harvested for Transoceanic tubes. I must say that this one, even with some bad tubes at least tries to work! My Transoceanic has never made a sound and a bad section of an electrolytic can ruined a few of the blasted 1.4VDC tubes. No matter; it never made a sound either way. I am beginning to wonder if the audio output transformer is shorted or something like that.

Never dealt with these unique radios before. Anyway, I do like the Zenith mentioned in this thread even though it is only AM.

I let a blue all plastic cased one slip away, and have regretted it ever since.....
