Remember Radio News Vans?

WFIL 560 was Philly's music and news station back in the good old days till the late 80s. It had excellent daytime coverage reaching out 60 miles back when transmitter tower ground-planes were maintained.

WFIL's van is at an event in the mid-60s is none other than TV personality Chief Halftown (full-blood Seneca native and champion bowler) who had a long-running children's show on WFIL TV (later WPVI).

That Car-Plane was featured in one of the History channel's programs on failed inventions a while back. I never knew a radio station owned one, but it seems like one of the most fitting applications one could find for one of those.

N103D, one of only four remaining Aerocar Model One Flying Automobiles. Just one prototype and four Aerocars were ever produced. One was destroyed. Two are in permanent museum collections. This pristine, fully functional 1956 Aerocar Model One is one of two in private ownership.
Wow! it appears that I was off by a decade on my estimate of the age of the Aerocar... guess I shouldn't judge too harshly eBay sellers that can't estimate the age of a TV that they are selling!

It appears that ninety-wonderful KISN also had a van for news gathering/events:

Also from the Stumptownblogger site. Mid 60s Dodge, perhaps?
