A real keeper! I don't know if I'll ever find a Packard-Bell around here. I really like these oddballs.

What's up with all the tube boxes inside the set? Were they really that hard on small tubes?

Packard Bell was made in California (like Hoffman) and so is seen more in the west portion of the USA. I do see a few here in Texas (I have two). I also have Packard Bell chassis similar to the one in the thread TV.
If the Packard Bell was like other color TVs of the 1960s, it ate 6GH8 tubes, hence the tube boxes!!! |

A cabinet refinisher who did grandfather clocks once told me to put a small damp terrycloth rag over dents and deep scratches while applying a hot iron directly over area to swell up the lower areas so when you sand you will not have to take as much off to get perfect surface. It is great to retain the original details and make it look exactly as new. I wish I had that set!
