Bill:

Is this what your set looks like? It is the CTC-5 from the ETF site.

Thanks Bill

for sharing an actual person with us. I bet Virginia would be tickled that she is remembered and thought about by anybody outside of those relatives waiting for her money. That is very cool.

Tim, it is a 7 with clear plastic grill work.

You were close but you get no cigar!

WSUN, channel 38, came on the air in 1953. WFLA, channel 8, started broadcasting in Feb. 1955. WTVT, channel 13, started shortly after. WFLA became a NBC affiliate, and WTVT became a CBS affiliate. WSUN was an independent at first, but in 1954 started carrying programs from all four (DuMont being the 4th) networks. In 1955 it became an ABC affiliate, but lost that affilliation when channel 10 came on the air. It struggled as an independent, but finally went off the air in 1970.

I thought the VHF stations came about before the UHF ones.

I thought that's why sets didn't have UHF as standard til '65?

Thumbs up

Sorry, guys. Bad news. I found the back cover. The model no is destroyed. All I can read is 21-, then, something that looks like 15- ??

This set is not on any of the present advertised pages on the net. There is no fancy look to the cabinet. There is no dial escutcheon on front. I was wrong on one thing. Juhn told me this IS a UHF, VHF tv.

Kinda plain Jane cabby. But, there are several clear plastic grill louvers in front of speaker system in front. There is a woofer, and 2 small tweeters. There is also a side metal door on same side as other control knobs that you open for more adjustments.

Set has a metal back cover.

It is a vertical chassis set, and DEFINATELY a CTC-7A with both 5U4's on top of the power transfor. Bill Cahill Thanks.

I think that's a beautiful modern looking cabinet

with or without refinishing.

A genuine classic design that is as fresh looking today as it must have been when new.

Bill,

Like I said many posts ago. It's the CTC-7 "Sanford" model in Walnut grain finish.
Thanks for posting the picture. The Walnut is probably the rarest finish for this model.

Thanks, but, really, it's Blonde, not walnut. But, the top is horrible looking. I'm going to try a different cleaner on it, but, whatever happenned to it soaked into the photo finnish. Would anybody have any extra knobs for this set? Thanks. Bill Cahill

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I just got a phone call from John Folsom. He said ups is picking up the package today, and prommisses delivery to me tommorrow. I'm excited, though, very nervous about ups. Hope it survives.

It will be a few days before I'm back on it. I have important work I'm doing here, first, Then, I'll start work on it. Hopefully, nearing the end on it. Look forward to seeing some of my favorite Color progarms on it.....

Wish me good luck.

Bill, got your pic and am trying my luck at uploading it.

Looks like the "Sanford" to me, not sure if it's the Fred or the Lamont Sanford...

The legs may have been changed but from what I can see of them in your pic they look right to me.
