what rca chassis is this a clone of??
This is the Silvertone I got from the e-waste recycler. It may even be made by rca, every part I can see says EIA274
It looks so virgin i bet it would work if the hot didnt go to air. No degaussing at all I like using the cute little 6AL5 as the phase detector. I bet its more reliable than diodes. |

It looks a lot like that CTC-9 I recently got - the chassis is very similar, the tube lineup is close, the convergence board is the same and even the front controls are in the same positions. Is that little knob above the tuner the fine tune control?

You are BOTH wrong--I think, CTC-11... as it says "21FBP22" and the 9 and 10 had the 21CYP22.

It looks to be an CTC-11 but it definitely is a contract marketed chassis built by RCA. This chassis found its' way into Olympic, Sears, Hallicrafters, Sylvania with mods and perhaps Magnavox and there were more who wanted to gain entry into the then expanding market of color television which was a big deal then. I have seen this chassis with several more names in the past but don't recall offhand but RCA did contract marketed these chassis. I may have some reference material regarding this............stay tuned!
Someone on one of the RCA sties had the tube layout labels for at least 4 different brands (same chassis) all basically the same but with differences. Help me out here!

Nice chassis, hopefully it can find a good home in a worthy cabinet.

A chassis or model number may be helpful too.

It could be a CTC-10, but the nuvistor gives it away as an 11. My RCA service manual says the CTC-11 can use either the 21CYP22A, 21FBP22 or 21FJP22 picture tubes. Probably model dependent, front glass/no front glass, ect.

Absolutely. RCA began using nuvistor front ends in 1961 models of both black-and-white and color sets. It's a CTC11 chassis.

If nothing else you got a very good -11 chassis, a worthwhile save. From my experience the 9-10-11 family is about as service friendly as tube color got. Extremely easy to pull those chassis.

Im happy to report I stuck a weak crt in there and the set works really good. I didnt touch one part on the chassis and the set has a stable color picture.
This will be the 4th FJP/FBP I have personally seen gone to air. I wonder where they leak from. Thanks for all the info guys..! |

Definitely an 11, imho. (12 is a flat chassis like a 16). And I don't think it's a clone, since it has a Nuvistor. All the clones I've seen, had a glass tube for the RF amp. Either it was a chassis swap sometime long ago, or that particular run had an RCA chassis. I have seen a Sears with an actual RCA CTC-12 in it, and it was an RCA cabinet too. Just had a generic dial bezel and knobs.

And didn't RCA come up with the "New Vista" moniker to promote that?

That's the common understanding, though some 100% solid-state stuff of theirs was also marked New Vista.
