Being that the switch and vol.control are combined as a unit, the only problem you `might` run into is hum pickup since the switch is no longer at ground potential when closed.

...which is why the set was wired the way it was. I haven't had a problem with the other sets I rewired (on/off & volume together), but I am cognizant of that possibility. Thanks.
