Aireon & Trans-Vue TV/Jukebox Combinations

After recently doing some research on the 'Aireon Manufacturing Corporation', I found some interesting TV info.

In 1948, they began experimenting with a TV/Jukebox combo system that used the Jukebox for all audio output (at least six units were produced). It required customers to pay a nickel for three minutes of TV audio.

Not long after, their sales managers left the company to form the 'Trans-Vue Corporation'. They did the same combo concept that Aireon did. By the summer of 1949, Trans-Vue entered the consumer television market. In part due to the loss of management, Aireon was sold in early-1950.

Aireon used RCA sets, while Trans-Vue used Raytheon sets. Has anyone seen these monitors?

The only TV jukebox I've ever seen is the post-war one made by the Videograph corporation using a Seeburg mechanism and an Emerson TV chassis. It was an idea to profit from TV, but it was such a very short time in the early post-war years that anyone would've been interested. In the case of the Aireon I can't imagine just listening to 3 minutes of the Texaco Star Theater!

The other thing that killed Aireon was that their mechanism was a total dud - prone to jamming up.

And the machines just looked weird....

Seeburg had 100 selections and the '45' in 1950. It was game over for all but the biggest. AMI somehow hung on though....

The concept is the similar to the 1939 Mills Panoram video jukebox. Only mills used projector and projection screen.

That is in worse shape than the one on display in the early television museum... There should be more pictures of it if you comb through the ETF convention pics over the years... could also just visit the museum and walk up to it and see it up close...
