crt rebuilding

here is the email i got from Daryl's TV. It sounds like he will take offers read below.

I no longer rebuild tubes. I had to store my equipment when my old building was tore down.
It doesn't require allot of room to set the equipment up. All you need is a water line (1/4" will do), a drain, 120 volt electricity available and natural gas hook-up. Noise level to you surrounding neighbors is nil.
One could get by using a double garage.
As to the cost.... make me a reasonable offer. The equipment is not doing anyone any good sitting in storage and accumulating storage charges.

Sorry for waking up an old thread, but I'm out of town at the moment and my ancient laptop won't give me the option of starting a new thread.

I've just noticed that ePay seller ihau2011 seems to be selling CRT rebuilding supplies.

Is this anyone that we know?

If not, should we be interested?

Jas.

Here they are. You can find a seller by doing an advanced search.

i think that would be cool to learn how to do that ,and make a small business out of it too . then you always have the equitment to experiment with, make your gun and glass envelope.

I wrote to him after seeing this thread. He replied that he had sold his plant and all his supplies.

Love the sales pitch.

Quote:
With this equipment you can process 80 to 100 C.R.T' s per month. Assuming average price of one tube as 100 Euro you can make 8000-10000 per month. Approximate cost of materials for tube is 10 Euro. The price we ask for equipment is 4500 Euro + 22% VAT (refundable). You also get "know how" and 14 days of free training in our CRT rebuilding plant in Warsaw. We have only one such as equipment for sale and it is offered on first come first served basis. Don't pass it up this opportunity to establish your own business.

I ran across a few listings for CRT internals when I was looking on ebay for a 4.5" little CRT a couple weeks ago. There were listings for big cases or "flats" of just the gun assemblies that would be used in a rebuild.

I remember thinking just what sort of hardcore TV guy would or COULD rebuild a CRT. I was completely stumped by simply finding a single broken focus pin on a little tiny b/w CRT. I eventually TRIED to look at mine through two sets of magnifiers and NECKED the thing the SECOND I touched it. I forgot you have to be CAREFUL with trying to work behind HIGH magnification and immediately smacked the end of the tube with a pair of needlenose. Broke the little nib off the end of the tube even before I had the chance to try and solder a lead to the broken off focus pin :-(

Must take a whole WORKSHOP of specialised stuff to actually safely remove and replace the gun assembly...AND be able to work with the glass....evacuate the tube, etc.

Wouldn't that be an awesome "attaboy" feeling to accomplish this though and rescue some IMPOSSIBLE old CRT!

Now that I see the cathodes are available I would totally jump on this. With Americas expanding economy and all the expendable cash people have for their hobbies this would be a great investment right now. The reliable, economical high quality shipping services we have available would really aid in logistics and increase profits. With and ever expanding customer base.....ok, ill shut up now
