Can't say I was as pleased this year with my CT-100 screen shots, but here's one of the 'queen' waving with one hand and taking digital pictures with the other...! This is from the ABC broadcast; NBC was transmitting in letterbox!

Managed to take a video of the opening minutes on the CT-100 that I'll post. (Need to reload software that'll convert AVI to reasonable MPEG.)

Today was a symbolic end to an era: NTSC, 1954 to 2009. R.I.P.

Great screen shots - not so much for the outcome of the game though

Several screen shots from my CT-100. Could not watch for long though, needed to go shopping with the wife.

Thanks, I'm hoping the other 11 and ctc-12 I have in the works will turn out that good. The 11 I took those shots with was definitely a problem child. Got it from Shawn (freakafter8) and spent alot of time fixing vertical and convergence problems. It ate up a regulator and HV rectifier too. However it was definitely worth the trouble to fix it

its a 21BFP22. Considering the cabinet on this set is all metal I don't think a metal cone CRT like an axp would fair well!

what was special about the cyp? earth phosphor, or sulfide phosphor? The first all-glass color crt?

Wonderful Screen Shots

Makes me want to hurry and get my 11 going. At least I guess DVD's would look fine on the old sets; how do the images look going thru a converter box??

the converter box looks just as good IMO. In some cases it can be even better. I think the digital format allows for a much wider color bandwidth and less chance of phase shift or distortion. In short terms, you can turn up the color abit without pastels looking saturated or colored snow.

I usually have to use DVD shrink and make a copy to play on the roundies. The macrovision makes nasty retrace lines due to the information in the blanking circuit.

Jordan....Your CT11 originally came with either a ..CYP, a ..FBP,or a ..FJP crt. Luckily yours has the best of them, the 21FBP22, possibly an "A" rare earth? No worry about cataracts either. That's what I'm running on the 21CT55, can't beat it for brightness and PQ. Your shots were truly outstanding!

I was too late for the slow moving Rose Parade but attempted some shots of the fast acting game at 1/60 sec to avoid smear. Big mistake, only got a single field plus I was way under exposed. Got to practice live TV shots!
