1963 Admiral Color
Recent find. Works too! Looks to be an 1963 model, has the RCA clone chassis.
Didn't Admiral go with their own chassis design for the next ('64) model year? |

I think 1964 is the year Admiral went to their own chassis design. My late grandmother used to own a 1964 Admiral Roundie. I wound up with it later on after the CRT died. I found a recent rebuild in Oak Ridge out of a knackered RCA which saved it.

Nice looking set, Admiral did a good job of putting their own spin on it.
I have one of the first generation Admiral color chassis' and it's VHF-only, so maybe they were model-year '64 with production starting in '63. Somewhere I have the date codes jotted down for mine.

If your set is VHF only, it was probably made before 1964; the deadline for all-channel TVs was April 30 of that year. However, your set seems to have a knockout plug on the front panel for an optional UHF tuner, so it is possible some of the VHF-only sets were sold in UHF-only areas such as Youngstown, Ohio, Fort Wayne, Indiana, et al.; the optional tuner would be installed by the dealer who sold the set.
