I have a copy of this brochure when I went hunting for my first color set. On page 24, you can see the "Bremanger", a 19 inch consolette. The casters came off. This was my first color set purchased new in August, 1966. I was 19, one year out of high school. I have said this before, but it was an exciting time, not only because it was my first color set, but because the 1966-67 season went 100% color in prime time.

Wonder why that name, Endicott is a small town a few miles west of Binghamton NY, a not much bigger town in the middle of nowhere in upstate New York state...

Did RCA name any sets "Scranton"?

I had one of those 19"ers with the metal cabinet on the back pages.....
I wanna say it was the middle one.... Not much difference in the description, and
looking at them it looks like they had different picture tubes in each....
The bottom one a little more square then the one in the middle....
I think I had the middle one..... I'd like to have one of those again....

How about Hoboken, Frank Sinatra's home town.
RCA made one model, they called the "Thrifton". It was definately a BOTL model. I don't remember if it was B/W or color.

In that catalogue they are saying that the new sets had better picture. That was true?

You might be intrested in this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Deal...-/251396833837 I wish it, but he does not delevers outside U.S.A.
In the '70's a Zenith 23" Zenith was about $500 IIRC Adding remote, 25"and a solid state chassis was about $200 more. Weight probably about 125 LBS.
Mimimum wage was about $2 / hour before taxed. Thats abt 9 weeks of
work BEFORE taxes. Needless to say a big TV was a MAJOR purchise that
was carefully done even by someone that made a lot more.
Now minimum wage is $10 +- depending on state. An apx 24" TV
I think is about $120 or about 12 hrs of work before taxes.

The real question is whether Dorothy went with the Rupert or sprang the extra 80 bucks for the rectangular tube on the Robbins. That big X next to the Rupert looks pretty definitive!

These do appear to all be the same chassis, differing only in cabinet, speaker size, and CRT. Or did they mix them?

Either way I'd love to have a Halmstad in my living room.

In general, sets improved in brightness from year to year as the CRT phosphors were improved.

The rectangular sets needed more complex convergence circuits, and probably some additions for pincushion correction.

About this time, RCA ran two magazine ads in succession that were identical except that the earlier one had a majority of roundies and the later one had a majority of rectangular sets.

All the rectangular sets below the Winslow, and maybe one or two above the Winslow, had the CTC-24. Which was a two IF stage economy chassis loaded with 6GH8's. I have a Winslow and it has a CTC-25, which was their "middle of the line" chassis. The high dollar sets had the CTC-21, which had power tuning standard.
