I got a Free CTC-11!!!

I went and looked at it today. The tuning knob is missing of course and the brightness knob. However the cabinet is decent and its FREEEE!!!

Now I just gota find a way to transport it to the house its too big to fit in any vehicle I have...

Nice going.

If you need a vehicle, try calling Penske Truck Rental if you have them near you. I rented from them a couple of weeks ago for my job, and unlike U-Haul with their horrible mileage rates, Penske was 12 cents per mile. Consider the rental fee as the actual "cost" of the TV. YMMV, of course... Literally in this case!

Dammitt, Jordan, you have all the luck...<grin> If I were out there, we'd take The Mighty Valdez & load that sucker up, toot-sweet...Sometimes having the Starship Enterprise as a vehicle is an advantage...

Thanks for the idea Chris. If I can't coax someone into hauling it I will definitely go this route

That's a RARE find these days! Very nice set! Where did you find it? I'd offer to help if we weren't 3 hours apart...

I got the set home safe and sound this afternoon. My father was kind enough to help deliver the set.

I always peruse craigslist for vintage or antique TV, or just plain tv in either collectibles or free section.

I came across an ad that stated "free until friday." in the list was "1960s RCA Victor New Vista Color tv set" I emailed and the owner told me it was her original tv set she bought new in 1961. She and her husband were retiring to a smaller apartment and couldn't take most of their stuff with them. The set had quit working sometime in the 90s and they just put it in the garage. The place was a ranch in alpine, ca

I have yet to discover the true condition of the set's electronics and CRT, but I think someone replaced the CRT at some point with a 21JFP22 because there is evidence of a cataract on the CRT face --and the set has safety glass.

I am stoked.

I opened it up last night and found years of dust. It seems the only tube that were replaced were the HO, vertical out, and HV regulaotr.

The CRT was replaced with a rebuilt one from Spectrum Electronics (whoever they are) in the mid 80s. THe CRT still tests as NEW with equal emission on all three guns!!

The set as actually a CTC-11. The chassis is stamped "CTC-11C" and has a serial tag with a hand-written number that I can't really read well.

As usual, the tuning knob is broken, and I'm sure there are no sources right? I''m also missing the one of the front panel knobs at the bottom.

Better pics

Here are some more teaser pics using something other than a cheap cell camera.

It is so crowded in my workshop now. This set is probably the biggest console I've owned, its huge.

Jordan, that is a wonderful find! Looks to be in good shape.

BTW, what CRT is supposed to be in a 10? a 21CYP?

This one is an 11 actually, I can't remember if the tube layout said 21BMP22 or 21BFP22
