About 12 years ago shortly before the Wisconsin goodwills stopped taking TVs a hospital dumped their complete stock of these on the Waukesha goodwill. They were trying to sell all CRT TVs at $0.50 each and having no luck. Seemed like half their furniture area was CRTs. If I wasn't in an apartment back then I'd have been tempted to grab a few and make a video wall.

When it was still running and blue, it also had retrace lines. Forgot to mention that. Does it mean the tube is bad and there's nothing that can be done. I really hate giving up on a project but it wouldn't be the first time. Can't be helped if it's a lost cause.

This is from when Gold Star was taking over Zenith. One of the first things
they did was mess up the CRT line. They went from the best jugs to trash overnite.
MOST of the time a blue screen with retrace is going to be a shorted
CRT H-K ( or any brand or color)
That causes the SMPS to fail & kill the set.

Ahh, I see. Should I attempt anything at all on this one?

I went ahead and tore this one down in preparation for disposal but first, I looked for the reason it went down and noticed the larger fuse was black. Rather than replace it, I passed since closer inspection revealed a ton of corrosion on the neck board and even more on the main board. Even a couple of components fell off. I'm just glad this wasn't an older set.
