First OLED True TV Pictures in Europe!
Good day Gentlemen,
For AudioKarma TV fans, first genuine screen shots of an OLED TV in operation! First time i've seen one in Europe, and judging by US posts, not yet a familiar sight in US shops either. Seen at Harrods, London, this weekend, a prototype of the Sony XEL-1 OLED screen TV. UK AudioKarma London area readers can see it for themselves "in the flesh". Radio/TV/DVD/CD section, 3rd Floor. The OLED TV is in a totally enclosed glass display shelf. Harrods sales staff quoted the TV as being available for sale for Christmas 2008. No price available yet. The UK (Euro?) model will have a DVB-T tuner instead of the US ATSC tuner. Will it be HD-compatible, no answer yet. The US model is quoted as having 960 (x RGB pixels) x 540. The unit was probably operating off a video HDD delivering a Sony promo program in 1080i/30 via an HDMI connection. see my post on French NG RadioFil: http://retro-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=17449 Pictures also here, for your convenience. Best Regards jhalphen Paris/France |

Looks neat to me.
I think this belongs in the Rectangular tube/solid state forum. I wonder how long that OLED TV will last. If it can go on for more then 10 years without significant picture degradation, then it would be a very great TV to own. |
