Can't find a manual for my "new" VCR?

I managed to score a pretty bad ass Super VHS deck from the thrift store today for a fiver, a JVC HR-S4900U. S-video in and out (including front inputs), jog/shuttle control on the front, all that good stuff. It originally retailed for 700 dollars!

Well, what's not so bad ass is that there's a tape stuck in it. This is a serious problem because I can't actually find a manual for this VCR anywhere, not even ManualsLib (they have manuals for other JVC S-VHS VCRs, of course, but not mine). Does anyone know of another place where I might find the manual for this thing? I have a feeling the stuck tape thing is a symptom of some kind of problem that's gonna require a bit of disassembly.

This is an option: https://www.samswebsite.com/en/photo...earch&s=Search

Usually, if a VCR won't eject a tape one or more rubber belts have turned to goop (or stretched too much). It usually ain't that hard to swap belts... Though sometimes if the tape is in the way you need to find the pulley the belt has stopped moving and manually rotate it to eject the tape so you can reach the stuff you need to reach to fix the belt.

I've got quite a bunch of JVC S-VHS decks...Most have been good to excellent performers.

Yeah, been looking for a S-VHS deck for a while now but only found really crappy basic VCRs until today, when I walked up to the shelves of electronics in the Salvation Army and saw that white "Super VHS" tampograph on the front...

20 dollars though, jeez! Would be nice if they sold a PDF version for a few bucks...

Howard s(c)am's has been a bit pricey for a long time...If you're lucky a local repair shop may have a copy to loan you. Also, large city libraries sometimes have subscriptions to sam's and will let you copy their copy.

I'll have to see what the local repair shop might have to offer.

If it is belts I can just get generic belt sets off eBay, right?

Possible. IIRC MCM electronics and one or two other sources exist...I've scrapped enough stuff out that about 99% of the belts I need come from my stash of used pulls so I have no experience with the normal distribution channels.

Thanks, that's exactly what I need!

I took the top off and then tried to eject the tape and noticed a chattering noise and absolutely no movement so it's either a belt or something is misaligned internally.
