ID: Toshiba VCR Remote Control "receiver" VC-87er for? Beta?
Hi folks any idea what this is? It's model "VC-87ER" for sale on thE auction site you are probably thinking of, I have never seen this before, but i was curious if anyone knew anything about it because google doesn't. I collect old vcrs and remotes (I know I need help)....but I do not know if this is a VHS or Beta add on...anyone? cheers

I am only guessing, but it could have been for an early Toshiba Beta VCR that might have included a wired remote control and offered a wireless remote control (with this receiver) as an option. The device looks like it could attach to the side of a VCR and match the front-edge profile of the machine.

This unit is part of the Toshiba V8700 Betamax package. Basically this comprised a V8600 with the remote control adapter. The adapter attaches to the right side of the machine with small adhesive pads. It derives it's power from the machine via the din plug. The remote control was unusual at the time as it used 3 small button batteries.....
