it is a belt driven turntable with a working 8 track player.the television has a sharp.sharp, sharp picture with an excellent crt. not a flat chassis or a chromacolorII,but a great buy.still has the original bag the remote came in and the sales reps business card!
as for zenith crts,i have never seen one that was dead.we did crt installs here in cols, ohio.shop must have performed 10-15000 through the years.never saw a zenith color crt that was bad.we hit a few and they always came up and stayed. |

Does that combo use a 9-160 power supply/HV module or does it use the newer HV module that stands up vertically to the right of the main board?

Got to be careful with those hand carts. Or do i need to remind you of the 1972 el paso combo massacre. Two young gents had an accident on a highway overpass, one slipped, and well, 300 lbs of deadly combo dropped onto a major freeway. 27 people lost their lives that day. Combo's can be deadly in the wrong hands. |

i ve heard about terrible damage to life and property from the misuse of handtrucks and the disabled.there was an incident here in central ohio where four adult men with marginal iqs tried to move a combo unit down a flight of three steps.they used a rented handtruck and unfortunately dropped the unit, breaking the black plastic case and the coaxial jack.it was a cruel and harsh death for that 13 inch orion tv/vhs combo.people still weep over this incident and we dim the lights on the anniversary of this tragic event.the men were later discovered not to be challenged but born in florida.

Somewhere, maybe here, I have read that the LG Zenith tubes were bad due to "production errors and shortcuts". Supposedly, they were SUPPOSED to be some sort of "low cost, long life tube" idea, but the guns got contaminated before being installed and the vacuum was inferior or such...setting up a VERY dismal future for the tubes...
Maybe 1 out of 5 were ok or so.... |

Just when I thought all of these sets had gone to the dump, someone brought me one for repair today - a '99 model 27" with audio and OSD; but, no picture otherwise. At least the CRT looks OK, judging by the OSD. I guess I'll tear into it tomorrow.

Zeniths of that vintage that actually have a good CRT might be worth big bucks someday because of their rarity... well, maybe not, but they could become one heck of a conversation piece. Someone else here has a '97 Zenith console as a daily watcher that's actually running on its original CRT.
