Sickening Rebates.

Menards, A home improvement store and hardware store, located in several states clustered around Wisconsin.
Their ads in the newspaper and on the TV and radio states 11% of everything in the store! It's obvious that the prices have been jacked up to reflect their so called rebate.
Plus, you have to pay sales-tax on the rebate!

I first heard of Menards where my in-laws lived up in South Sioux City, Nebraska a couple decades ago.

But now they're getting closer to Kansas City. I suspect that Home Depot and Lowe's are keeping them at bay, at least for the time being.

As Menards is not THAT close to me I will keep shopping at the aforementioned (and mainly local hardware stores as much as I can) for the time being.

I have been in the Lawrence, KS Menards a couple of times. And, as I used to sell light fixtures in relatively smaller retail operations back in the 70's and 80's, I am rather impressed with the light fixture display! They put all the lighting in the front of the stores which is visible out the front windows.

I have noticed their ads. But, again, not in my area enough to matter. I'll watch out for any of their BS.

I've always been too lazy to turn in the mail in rebates. They're not a bad chain, but certain things like roofing and flooring they get factory seconds and the quality and consistency is below that of other chains on those items....Case in point our prefinished 1/2" hardwood ground floor is from them and we had to visit about half the stores in SE Wisconsin/NE Illinois buy the best 6 boxes from each, reshuffle the boat curved, wrong color, giant knot ridden, wood worm hole swiss cheese boards into 3 of the boxes each time and return those... Judging from the stocks at some of the stores we weren't the only ones doing this. That's one whacky memory I won't forget.

One thing that makes them worth visiting to us TV guys is they're the only place I know of that sells unfinished 50s-60s style furniture legs that fit most TV consoles. I've bought around 3 sets, and would buy more to make some of my table sets with leg mounts into consolettes if I had the floor space to unstack those sets.

I always check the wastebaskets at Menards for tossed rebate vouchers. Free money!

I’ve heard Menard himself is a pretty distasteful guy. Watching him bankroll his son’s NASCAR career was funny cause Paul wasn’t much of a driver. He won once at the cup level.
