1966 GE AA5 clock radio
OK, here's another one of those common as dirt GE clock radios that they made so many of during the '60's in both tube and SS versions. This one is a model C505D from 1966 and needed new filter capacitors. The main reason I got this was because it actually is in decent shape. Most of these that I find have moderate-to-serious cosmetic issues.
Does anyone know if GE continued to make an AA5 radio after '66? I know they made a hybrid SS/tube AM/FM radio as late as '68; so, I feel like it's possible that they offered an AA5 that late. Here's a youtube video that I made of the radio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lN6twSS9AI

That style was made over several years. My grandma had one with the CD marks but the clock face was different, made in 1963.

At least it was one with the pentagrid convertor, instead of the lousy autodyne. I see that one was one of the first to use Japanese parts. |
