rcaman,
I hope that 7JP4 was NOS for that price. That is a little high for that CRT IMO. A good metal shell 21AXP22 just went on ebay recently for almost $700 US. I'll bet a NIB (and working) 15GP22 could probably command over $3K easily now. I think $150 is a reasonable price for good 21FBP/FJP22's currently, but where they end up is anyone's guess. Ten years from now you might have to pay a grand for one of these tubes. However ten years from now a grand will only be worth $150, so this stuff doesn't actually gain in value. A CT-100 sells today for the same equivalent price it did new, if it is in excellent, working condition, so by becoming a very rare collectible it only retained its value. In that regard I personally think many vintage TV's are way undervalued presently and that they are a real bargain right now. Can you imagine what the nicer 40's B&W sets are going to be worth in 50 years time? Rob |
