early Magnavox question

I have an old Magnavox black and white console set, the model number is 2mv165l.
Can anyone help me in determining the year of the set?
I have searched and can't find any info.
My Thanks,
James

Hi.

Can you post a picture of the TV? We'd like to see it!

I've got a 1961 Magnavox system. With minor repairs, it's running great!

We'd really need the chassis number to ID a Magnavox - ususally they were stamped on the back of the metal chassis somewhere.

Of course, if you can get a pic up that would help too. Go to "go advanced" - "manage attachments" - in the pop-up window select "browse" and select the picture from your computer, then hit "upload." The picture does need to be sized down with your own editing program if it is over 140K or so.

1958-59 possibly, looks like the model that was compatable as an extra speaker system to the Belvedere stereo.

Agree. I believe that this set was part of a larger system. One of my neighbors growing up had a system like this in their living room... It took up the entire wall, but filled the room with sound. It's owner was a major record collector, and worked in radio for about 30 years.

The set in the pictures looks to be in really good shape. Hope the CRT is OK!

My Belvedere has the speaker/record storage with it, but I hope to find the television and set it up like that sometime.

I just picked one that looks like this one except the controls are on the front
Need help with the chassis number ? V29002 ? (my eyes used to be better LOL) is stamped in black on chassis and also on a paper card in the cabinet.
The power transformer primary measures out at 0.5 ohms
sams lists v290200 not sure which is right

I have a similar set with front mounted controls. The chassis number looks like v290200 however the power transformer primary is shorted. I was looking at Hammond tr's but maybe someone has a used one.
