CTC-10 Remote

For some reason I decided to buy this set on eBay from Kaye-Halbert TV (Charles). Charles was quite clear about the poor codition of this TV but he didn't want to junk it.

I picked it up on Monday and it looked worse in person than in the pictures. It was full of cement powder that got wet over time and of course hardened. I cleaned it up the best I could and today with the help of fellow AK member Steve D. I swapped the picture tube from a CTC-7 into this thing. With some work which included rewinding the color oscillator coil I got a picture. I put the CRT back in my 7 as that is in really good condition. Now I don't know what to do with the 10!

Thanks Steve for the help today.

Steve K

I can't believe that set works that well, or at all!

I thought about bidding on the set. I have a CTC 11 remote set that is missing all the remote stuff. The thought of shipping costs deterred me from bidding on it. I hope to find all the remote stuff to put my set back together.

Hey Steve K.

You're welcome. It was fun helping you bring that basket case set back to life. Good Job & neat photos.

It's good to see that set working so well. I was thinking about it myself too, but I wound up deciding on all those b&w's instead.

I'm impressed! That was a lot of work for you and KTLA Steve to go through... I had heard from the fellow who owned it that it "had worked somewhat" in the early 90s, but being hearsay I didn't say that in the ad. This is sure better than what it's fate would have been if it had been left where I found it: bulldozer!

I will keep an eye out for a CRT, and Steve, I can give you the number for the woodgrain man if you're interested. He can duplicate that, or any other version including the rare blonde grain. Won't be cheap, but it will be perfect!
