Beta Tapes

This last weekend I went with my son to our local county Flee Market to help
him carry out a couple of boxes of video tapes. A couple months back my son had brought home two boxes with video tapes and two Beta VCR's. The seller had more tapes, which is what I helped with. One is a Sanyo 4027 and the other a Sony SL-HF400. Both vcr's needed cleaning. I had a set of Sanyo belts and tire on hand, so I replaced them. The Sony can only output a video signal though the internal RF to a television. The tapes came from an old video store up in the Green Bay-Appleton area. In all he got a little over 260 beta tapes. Most of the tapes were produced in the 1980's.
I posted some pictures below.

Nice find. That many tapes will keep you busy for a while.

Beween all the old VHS, BETA, and Laser Disc I have yet to watch, it could be years, Tom. I built enough shelves for 1000+ VHS tapes already. Now I need shelves for BETA tapes.
But nothing beats your Indiana adventure.

I try to never record over any video tape. Those boxes of beta tapes were heavy, we had to stop and catch our breath a few times on the way to the car. Many of the beta tapes are movies I've never heard of or watched.
I still use tape media for home video recording and then transfer it to DVD.

I too have a Sony SL-HF400 Hi-Fi Beta machine, that I had actually bought off of the Goodwill Salvage (I work at goodwill so that's how I did it) and the machine still works but the cover over the display is busted and its missing its door that goes over the function keys, maybe if you don't want to fiddle around with your Sony Machine you got maybe I could buy yours for parts?

I'll probably embark on a video watching binge and watch a movie a night for awhile.

Thats a good idea.It will give your decks a work out too.My Sony was used as the daily time shift driver up to 1998 when the Beta blanks were scarce like VHS is getting now.
